NIckajack & Floyd Zoning – Community Meeting on July 23 @ 7pm

Jul 11, 2019 | Zoning

On Tuesday, July 23 @ 7pm, Kevin Moore, the attorney for Kerley Family homes will present the revised plan for their townhome development behind Kroger at the intersection of Nickajack and Floyd Roads in Mableton. The meeting will be held at the South Cobb Community Center, 620 Lions Club Drive in Mableton. At a prior meeting, residents asked or changes to the plan. The purpose of this meeting is to share those changes with the community. In the new plan, the entrance to the proposed community is on White Boulevard (leading to Floyd Middle School) and there is no access from Nickajack Road. The property on Nickajack Road will remain zoned R-20. The layout of the townhome community has changed, so that the units facing White Boulevard have their garages in the rear. The community is composed of these “garage-in-the-rear” townhomes and others with garages in the front.

The next evening, District Commissioner Lisa Cupid and Planning Commissioner Galt Porter will hold their monthly Community Zoning Meeting in Mableton. This meeting, on Wednesday, July 24, will be a good opportunity for residents to share their opinions about this application with the decision makers. This meeting is also at the South Cobb Community Center and it begins at 6pm.

The application is scheduled to be heard by the Planning Commission on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at the Board of Commissioners meeting room, 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta. The hearing will begin at 9am, and this application will be one of many under consideration that day.
